SUSTAINABILITY

Luxury That Respects the Island

Cyprus gave us this perfect coastline, these mountains, this Mediterranean climate. The least we can do is take care of it. Sustainability isn't a marketing campaign for us—it's how we operate. Every decision filtered through one question: "Is this good for the island?"

Anemi Hotel sustainable outdoor spaces

Travelife Certified

We're proud to be Travelife certified—an internationally recognized sustainability certification for accommodation. This isn't a badge we bought; it's one we earned through documented practices, third-party audits, and continuous improvement.

Travelife evaluates over 150 criteria across environmental impact, fair labor, community engagement, and business ethics. Annual audits keep us accountable. It's rigorous, sometimes annoying, and absolutely necessary.

You can verify our certification and read our latest sustainability report on the Travelife website. Transparency matters.

What We're Still Working On

Honesty about challenges matters as much as celebrating wins. Here's what we're still figuring out:

Air Conditioning

Cyprus summers are hot. Guests expect AC. We've installed efficient systems and smart controls, but cooling buildings in 35°C heat still uses significant energy. We're exploring geothermal and improved insulation, but perfect solutions remain elusive.

International Guests

Most of our guests fly here. Aviation's carbon footprint is substantial. We can't control that, though we do partner with carbon offset programs and encourage longer stays to reduce flight frequency.

Supply Chain

We source locally when possible, but some items (specialty equipment, certain amenities) aren't produced in Cyprus. We're always evaluating alternatives and pushing suppliers toward better practices.

How Guests Can Help

Small actions, when multiplied by thousands of annual guests, create real impact:

Towel & Linen Reuse

Hang towels to reuse. Skip daily linen changes if you're comfortable. This saves thousands of liters of water and reduces detergent use. Most guests choose this option.

Climate Control

Turn off AC when you leave the room. Close balcony doors when cooling. Set temperature to 24°C instead of 18°C. You'll stay comfortable and save energy.

Local Experiences

Book our gastronomy tours, eat at village tavernas, buy from local artisans. Tourism dollars spent locally create jobs and preserve culture.

Reef-Safe Products

Use reef-safe sunscreen (we provide it). Avoid products with microbeads. The Mediterranean needs protecting from chemical runoff.

Progress & Accountability
