Christianity & Cyprus
Cyprus holds a unique place in Christian history. The Apostles Paul and Barnabas arrived on the island, and their mission here led to Cyprus becoming one of the first countries in the world to be governed by a Christian administration.
The island's churches, monasteries, and sacred sites span nearly two millennia of continuous Christian worship, from the earliest basilicas to the painted Byzantine churches of the Troodos mountains.
