Wineries & Wine Routes
Wine
Grapes were first cultivated in the Black Sea area around 8,000 years ago — a practice that spread to Cyprus. The island has been a wine trading hub since 2,300 BC.
Today, fifteen wineries across the Paphos region carry that tradition forward, producing wines from indigenous grapes like Xynisteri, Maratheftiko, and Mavro. Commandaria, the oldest named wine in the world, has been made here since 800 BC.
